What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We respect your privacy. We work hard to collect and/or retain only the information that we need to provide you with what you are interested in.

In general, we collect basic information about you so that we can allow your web browser to display our pages you requested. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, and the names of the pages you requested. Most of this information is discarded after we’ve responded to your request, although some of it is retained temporarily so we can keep track of how smoothly our website is operating.

Additionally, we sometimes use cookies to keep track of information about you. We keep track of whether you have been invited to join our mailing list and whether you have added any items to your shopping cart.

Comments

When visitors leave comments or reviews on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your Gravatar profile picture (if you have one) is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

On some pages, you can submit your contact information along with questions or comments you have for us. If you fill out a contact form, we save the information you submit so we can respond to you.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, we will remove the login cookies.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, or monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to help track where users find out about us and what they do on our website. Google invites anyone to opt out of this data collection by using an opt out tool.

Whom we share your data with

We will never sell your information to marketers.

Some of our technology partners do have access to your data. We share with them so that they can help us provide the services you require. We share your email address with the company that sends our email for us. We share your name shipping address, and sometimes an email or phone number if they need to contact you, with our shipping provider.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. You can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except you cannot change your username).

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
